What Do You Sell?

Kate’s Plates began selling plates, just personalized plates but as the business grew we have added reversible placemats in themes and colors to accessorize with our adorable melamine plates. The website is simple, organized and focused on plates, placemats and preppy style!

When did you decide to start a home business?

3 years ago, we 3 Moms decided to graduate from a home party/eBay business to a website boutique, Three Hip Chicks, featuring our line of monogrammed silver jewelry and gifts. If all our neighbors and friends love our jewelry, maybe the worldwide web would love it, as well! Last year hip chick number 1 discovered our wonderful plates, grew the business in our boutique. Around the table at Starbucks, we decided to go for it with our plates since, after all, our friend’s neighbors and family loved them so maybe the worldwide web would love them too!

 

Can you share your tips for survival and success?

Be prepared for hard work, be willing to listen to the advice of others, be open to consider failure as an opportunity to learn and turn it around into success, be strong enough to take the chance and go for it and NEVER say NO!

What is the best advice you could offer to someone getting started?

Look for opportunities within your our life to sell something that you love and believe in and decide who your customer will be. Find out if other people agree with your passion and if they do, go for it! Listen to people who know more than you do, ask lots of questions and always remember the content and keywords will drive your passion into a successful business. Anyone can start an internet business but it takes passion, style and drive to be successful. Above all, remember, it can be done! We can do anything if we try hard enough!
