Mom of the Month
January 2009
 |
N-Style Mom takes a break for blasé baby
accessories by providing fashionable alternatives for parents who
want to experience trendy on-the-go necessities for baby and kids.
As an online boutique, N-Style Mom brings fun choices to parents
looking for the next best thing in modern baby accessories.
Owner and designer, Allison Frey (aka: Allie), launched N-Style
Mom in 2009, in effort to blend business and family. As the mother
of four boys, Frey sought to spend less time in a traditional
working role and more time as a mother.
What do you sell?
N-Style Mom sells boutique baby wipes cases, boutique children
hangers, personalized pails & memory boards just to name a few.
Starting in the early part of 2009, there will be a new line of
products coming... personalized products like mouse pads,
invitations, note cards, stickers and labels and some other really
neat items. Allie is looking forward to gearing up and getting her
website up to date with all these products very soon!

How did you get started?
Well, to make a long story short...I started off making hair bows in
2006 and decided that I wanted to have a website to see if I could
sell them. With absolutely NO experience in even how to begin, I
googled website designers and found Ink at www.inkprince.com and she
helped me build my first website.
How do you balance work and home?
Great question.....at first it was so hard. I had a new born (3
weeks old), 5 year old, 7 year old & 12 year old and it almost
seemed impossible. I worked for a Vet part-time, took care of the
kids full-time and worked on my website late at night. I struggled
with being a mom, wife, employee and business owner. I am a
perfectionist so trying to bathe kids, cook supper, do homework & do
all the accounting at the Vet Hospital got the best of me. I finally
balanced it all by writing all my "to do's" down and just checking
them off. I started getting up a couple hours earlier and staying up
later and getting things in order. It's been 2 years and it is
finally starting to pay off. I no longer work part-time and focus on
my business & kids. It's still hard but SO worth it.

What do you enjoy about doing this?
I enjoy everything I do. I have a love for crafts and I am always
having ideas pop up in my head. I look at things I have made and
think "Oh my gosh...I just made that!" I have also come to a point
in my life that I want to start focusing on just a few product lines
and stick with them. I have an office full of ideas and I have come
to realize that I can't do it all. I just hope the things I have
decided to do will be as successful as I dream they will be.

What advise can you give other moms that work at
home or want to work at home?
Do your homework & be patient. It is so easy to fall into a rut
when times are slow. An online store takes true dedication and
courage. Many sleepless nights and hard work. Don't forget about
what is most important...your family and your precious children.
With time, determination and lots of prayers anything is possible.
Stay positive, find your niche and go for it!! I love what I do and
I am so truly thankful for each and everyday that God gives me. I
get to stay at home with my boys, work on my time and make a few
extra bucks.
